a uroras, better known as the Aurora Borealis in northern
latitudes, is the glow that is observed in the night sky in the polar regions. It is also
known as Aurora Polaris for that reason. They are named after the Roman goddess of
dawn, Aurora, and the 'borealis' part is the Greek word for wind.
The Aurora Borealis occurs most often from September to October, and March to April.
They occur when electrons of average energy collide with atoms of the upper atmosphere, which produces wavelengths of light. If you're interested in learning more technical things, please visit this Wikipedia article.
