Fanlistings
a webmaster's hobby and so much more
A fanlisting is, quite simply, a listing of fans. Fanlistings are similar to any other group or club you might join. You can join a fanlisting to 'show your love of something.' Most fanlistings have small codes, buttons, or plaques available which you can display on your own website if you'd like. Our site definition of a fanlisting is: "A fanlisting is simply an online list of fans of a subject, such as a TV show, actor, or musician, that is created by an individual and open for fans from around the world to join. There are no costs, and the only requirements to join a fanlisting are your name and country. Fanlistings do not have to be large sites (although some are); they are just a place where you can sign up with other fans.My Perspective
a fangirl's take on fanlistings
I discovered fanlistings when I reluctantly joined one back in 2003. I forgot all about them after that - but then when I got my copy of Adobe Photoshop CS2, I started webdesigning and created my own webblog. After browsing around my 'blog buddy' Melissa's sites, I discovered her fanlisting collective, and was amazed at how much care she put into them. Now, Melissa was practically my webdesign idol at the time, and so I wanted to create fanlistings just like her (yes Meli, you've influenced me that much XD)! I started with a fanlisting at (the now non-existent) Kylosa.Com, and then moved on to a new host - Kellie of Beautiful-Beast.Net. (She's also been very helpful to me when it comes to fanlistings, so a big thank you to her!) After that, Aichaku was born; and well, the rest is history.Although I haven't exactly had a *long* time with fanlistings, I do love the concept of it, and believe it to be a great way to express your love for something; some of us are very busy and have no time (or are too slow) to create full-fledged shrines. I believe I'll continue to build fanlistings until the end of my webdesign days - which I assure you will not be over anytime soon.
