Takuto Kira

Name: Kira Takuto (last, first)
Age: 16 (at death)
Role: Vocalist

Takuto is the shinigami sent to watch Mitsuki, and one-half of Negi Ramen, the other being his partner, Meroko. He hasn't matured into a full shinigami yet, seeing as he hasn't captured a single soul and his wings are fake. Despite his cold exterior, he is actually a very caring person, though he seldom shows it. Amazed at Mitsuki's singing, he agrees to transform her into Full Moon, and eventually develops romantic feelings for her as well.

Of course, if he's a shinigami, he had to commit suicide, that being a qualification. In his life as a human, Takuto was the vocalist for Route L, and also the youngest member of the band, as he was only twelve years old when he debuted. Despite his age, he was considered to have a lot of talent. After Aoi, whom he considered almost a brother, died, Takuto tried a solo career. He wasn't as popular as Route L altogether, but he was successful enough. Unfortunately, he developed a tumor in his throat just like Mitsuki at 16. In the manga, Wakaouji performed the surgery and removed his vocal chords, despite Takuto's wishes. Not being able to handle the fact that he couldn't sing anymore, he jumped off the top floor of the hospital - right in front of Wakaouji's eyes. In the anime, as Takuto found out about his tumor and thought about the consequences, he accidentally drove off a cliff on his motorbike.

It was a happy ending for Takuto - in the anime he was reborn as a human, and didn't remember any of his memories as a shinigami, until Mitsuki shouts his and Meroko's name. In the manga, he disappeared for three years, after getting struck by the shinigami spear. His long-awaited return finally happens at Mitsuki's concert (she's now about 16 years old), causing quite a stir - especially when Mitsuki finally returns his feelings and kisses him in front of everyone. An interesting fact was that everyone seemed quite surprised to see him - except Wakaouji. I guess the bond they had when they were in Route L was hard to erase.
